How fitting that the New York Public Library hosted the launch of THE TRAVELER’S VADE MECUM, anthology of new poems prompted by old telegrams, from Red Hen Press. The telegram titles were sourced from an 1853 compendium of the same name preserved in NYPL’s reference department.  Thanks to NYPL’s Carolyn Broomhead for coordinating this event and for excavating the original to put on display. Special thanks to contributing poets who came out to read. What a welcome respite from politics with Desirée Alvarez Harry Bauld Chip Brown Janet Chalmers Laura Cronk Jennifer Franklin Lee Gould Michael Gottlieb Sonja Greckol Bergen Hutaff Brett Fletcher Lauer  David Lehman Maria Lisella Stephen Massimilla Deborah McAlister Gretchen Primack Anna Rabinowitz Jimmy Roberts Gail Segal Ann Settel James Sherry Jamie Stern Abigail Thomas Michael Tyrell Abby Wender Catherine Woodard. Thanks also to other poets who came to support this project including Marie Ponsot and Sharon Dolin and to all who came out for a night of poetry. Big thanks to photographer Peter Baiamonte for capturing it all.
